The green benches that allow one or more viewers to contemplate the sea or meditate are a recurring theme throughout the collection. The protective tree and the wall frame the landscape: the sea stretching endlessly toward the horizon. Yet the title, Tout de bleu vêtu (“All Dressed in Blue”), suggests the harmony between humankind and the sea, as well as the importance of color itself. Even the shadows, in the pure Impressionist tradition, are colored. The painting heralds the beginning of a beautiful summer evening.
This work belongs to the Le Poème de la Mer series, where Anaïs Zhang paints figures often seen from behind, absorbed in the presence of the ocean, frequently seated on the iconic benches of the urban landscape. The artist does not depict the sea directly, but rather the landscape as it is experienced through the gaze of the passerby. These works, imbued with poetry and quiet narration, transform contemplation into an emotional experience, where color becomes the vehicle for reverie, solitude, and an inner dialogue with the infinite.

Biography
Anaïs zhang
Based in Biarritz, Anaïs Zhang is a Chinese-born French artist with a Master’s degree in Oil Painting from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Rooted in color-rich, modern painting, her work weaves a dialogue between past and future, East and West, memory and imagination, and has recently been exhibited at the Grand Palais in Paris.
